About the Author
Dan Abnett is the author of the Horus Heresy novels The Unremembered Empire, Know No Fear and Prospero Burns, the last two of which were both New York Times bestsellers. He has written almost fifty novels, including the acclaimed Gaunt’s Ghosts series, and the Eisenhorn and Ravenor trilogies. He scripted Macragge’s Honour, the first Horus Heresy graphic novel, as well as numerous audio dramas and short stories set in the Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer universes. He lives and works in Maidstone, Kent.

Well worth the wait

This book was delayed time and again, but it is well worth the wait. This is by far one of the best Black Library releases. Malleus takes place nearly 100 years after the first book Xenos. The novel is plotted and executed in the fashion of Xenos and works just as well. The plot of Malleus deals more with the machinations of rival inquisitors and shows the reader why the inquisition is so feared. Malleus is especially interesting to those familiar with his other books. Abnetts first book First and Only is referenced several times (inquisitor Heldane is a villain of sorts in First. the Mechanicus ship Mons Olympus is too.)The book is also noticably longer than other Black Library releases, but it still feels rushed, especially the final battle which is ridiculously short and dissapointing, these two factors alone drop the rating. And judging by the titles of the first two books the next and final book will be titled HERETICUS.

Very Good Book!

Abnett has written an excellent follow up to his first book "Xenos". The plot of this novel is very well woven together and surprisingly intricate but as a previous reviewer points out it does feel rather rushed especially at the end. I've read this is because of the restrictions by the Black Library on story length but I can't confirm this. I liked this book better then "Xenos" because it gives a glimpse into the inner life of the Inquisition and all its many problems. I only gave it 4 stars because the story line is rushed. It sets up nicely for the 3rd book. Bring it on Mr Abnett!

Not as good as Xenos

Malleus is the second book of the Eisenhorn Trilogy. Malleus isn't as good of a story as Xenos but still a very good read. If you have not read Xenos then definitely read that book first. Also if you are not already a fan of Warhammer 40,000 be prepared to slug through the first 50-100 pages as the book throws a lot of names and events at you that could be tough to deal with if you are not already familiar with the 40K universe. Overall a good, well written sci-fi yarn.

A Surprisingly Good Read

Let's be honest - queer short story collections can be hit or miss. I didn't expect much out of this one except some amusing, perhaps silly stories or ones poking fun at super hero cliches. And yes, some of these stories are silly, light, funny, entertaining... and some of them are seriously dark, violent, thought-provoking reads. This collection surprised me with its breadth and depth, and I enjoyed every minute of it. A definite recommendation!

There's a great range of stories here - from the fun and sexy to the dark and serious. The blend worked well. I had the pleasure of reading some new titles by authors I've become familiar with over the last few years and to discover some new names that I'll be looking forward to reading more from in the future.

I especially appreciated that this wasn't an erotica anthology. While erotica has its place and can be enjoyable, it's nice to see gay genre fiction that doesn't need to depend on it to entertain.

Villainy at its Finest

Supervillains have always been more exciting than their heroic counterparts, and this book is a prime of example of this. Many of the stories are original takes on classic villains given new names and locations. Some of them are truly unique, such as the story of a young gay man living in a theocratic United States who has the power to create explosions. Another strong offering is the story of a villain who enlists Z-list help to capture one of the world's most powerful heroes in order to impress a crush. Humor is a strong part of the stories, but some are extremely serious. If you like any of the Marvel movies, you'll like this.

About the Author
JC Calciano has worked as a film producer for 25 years and has worked in various capacities on films such as: Mission: Impossible, The Fisher King, Star Trek, and others. When not working on features, JC worked as a writer/producer/director on a great many television programs. After 25 years of producing professionally, his mid-life crisis kicked in. He realized that although he loved producing, the dream that had originally brought him into the film business was to write and direct. JC stopped producing and started writing. At 45 years old, he wrote his first feature film, Is It Just Me? (2010) It was his first film as a writer and director. It was an over-night hit and became the official selection of over 50 inter- national film festivals and won several awards and honors, includ- ing audience choice and best picture. From that point on, he was hooked. He had the writing bug and set forth to make another film. JC’s second feature film, eCupid (2012), became another best seller in the LGBTQ market and won four best picture and audience choice awards. His newfound passion for romantic comedy films, as well as the desire to tell the story of his best friends’ semi-romantic tryst, inspired him to write his third feature film, The 10 Year Plan (2015). The film was screened at over 51 international film festivals and winner of 10 awards for best feature and screenplay. The 10 Year Plan screenplay was selected as a finalist in the Rainbow Literary Awards. This honor inspired JC to write the screenplay into a novel for those who enjoy reading rather than watching a film. This book is JC’s first novel and his faithful adaptation of the screenplay and movie of the same name. He hopes that you enjoy the book as much as the audience has enjoyed the movie. Seductively sweet!

I'll have to admit. I cheated. I saw the movie first and then read this book. And disclaimer: I met the author at GRL where I bought the DVD and only because I liked eCupid but we are not friends in real life. I just loved eCupid.

Getting back to this: I liked the characters' interactions in the movie, particularly Brody and Myles. The bromance between the cops was funny, and a blast to watch. The book and movie is based on real people the author knows so it's not a m/m conversion of My Best Friend's Wedding, which is the biggest comparison I can make.

It's a seductively sweet story of two friends falling in love with each other over the years and afraid of really saying it out loud to each other until push comes to shove.

Highly recommended // Great storyline based on a true story

I have found The Ten Year Plan to be a very enjoyable read. It was well written, effectively holding my attention as I anticipated certain plot turns, but not all of them. The fact that it is based on a true story premise made it even more interesting to me. The character development was great. It was a light, relaxing & satisfying storyline. I would highly recommend this book to others !

This was a great story. The plot was excellent. The characters were engaging, believable, relateable, the scenarios presented within the novel were true to life and the dialogue presented was lively, entertaining, and realistic. In an age where there are so many gay/bi men content to use the Grindr app for purely physical, one-night stands, while other gay/bi men are looking for their happily ever after it was nice to read about two men who end up finding it together and how they both ended up where they were. I did love the fact that the author included the recipes that Myles used in the story at the end of the book and then some Do's and Dont's thoughts from Brody as well.

I’ve seen the movie and it was a happy surprise to see a book was written and it was just as great as the script.
